First-Time Guide
How to Prepare Your Room for a Home Massage Appointment
One of the advantages of booking with PK Wellness Home Massage is that almost no preparation is required — your therapist brings the table, linens, oils and equipment. Still, a few small steps make the session start faster and feel more relaxing from the first minute.
Before the Therapist Arrives
- Clear a space roughly 2m x 2.5m in any room with a door that closes — bedroom, living room or a quiet office all work. This is enough room for a portable massage table and the therapist to move around it comfortably.
- Adjust the room temperature slightly warmer than usual, since you'll be lying still and often partially uncovered during the session.
- Have a bathroom accessible nearby for before and after the session.
- Silence phone notifications if you want the full uninterrupted relaxation effect.
- Avoid a heavy meal right before your session, particularly for deep tissue or sports massage, where lying face-down can feel uncomfortable on a full stomach.
"The best home massage set-ups aren't elaborate — just a quiet room and a few minutes to switch off your phone."
What You Don't Need to Provide
Your therapist arrives with everything required for a full professional session:
- Portable massage table (or none needed for a mat-based Thai massage)
- Fresh linens and towels
- Massage oils, or essential oil blends for an aromatherapy session
- Bolsters and cushions, including pregnancy-safe support for prenatal massage
For Hotel Rooms
If you're booking to a hotel rather than a home, simply confirm your room number and let reception know a therapist is expected — see our full guide on booking a massage to your hotel room for the full process.
For Couples or Four Hand Sessions
If you've booked a couples massage or four hand massage, allow slightly more floor space for two tables side by side, and let us know in advance if the room is on the smaller side so the team can plan accordingly.
Send a quick photo of your room layout when booking if it's an unusual shape — it helps your therapist bring the right size table set-up.
Ready When You Are
Once your room is ready, there's genuinely nothing else to organise. If you have any specific questions about your space before booking — narrow hallways, lift access, or an unusual room layout — just mention it when you message us and we'll make sure your therapist arrives fully prepared.
